FM Conway - Going the Extra Mile
A Family Business
What makes a family business different from other kinds of business? One of the main differences is that a family business has a ‘face’ to everything it does. Clients choose to work with Conway because they know that our level of commitment extends beyond the merely professional: when we contract to do a piece of work, we don’t just put the company on the line – we put ourselves on the line. This is true right across the organisation, from the top to the bottom, and back again. For the Conway family, ownership entails responsibility. We are responsible for every aspect of the company’s work, and for every member of staff that we take on. We expect hard work and honesty; and in return we give our total commitment and loyalty, both to the company and to the staff. And it is these family values (loyalty, commitment, and trust) that make F.M. Conway Ltd. a special place to work. This can be seen not only in our commercial success but also in the quality of our staff. People who share the Conway values tend to stay with us: they enjoy the work, and they are rewarded for it. And not only do they stay – they also encourage other family members to join the company. Opposite is a chart that shows some of the family relationships of the people who work for or with the company. We have tried to document all the families working within the business today, but it is possible that we have left out some names. If we have left out your name, I do hope you will forgive the oversight: family relationships do not form part of our official records. We are, however, proud that so many families should have put their trust in us. Their trust gives greater depth – and an extra layer of meaning – to the expression ‘family business’.
