ALL GREAT PEOPLE OUR EQUALITY, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION STRATEGY

BUILD BACK BETTER (GREEN REVOLUTION)

Throughout the pandemic, there was a real need to keep society running, wherever that could be achieved safely and efficiently. Just one example of this is that, throughout the different lockdowns and tier systems, FM Conway not only kept pace with Westminster City Council’s need for planned improvement and maintenance works, but looked to improve the way services were delivered, especially in relation to carbon reduction.

FM Conway recognises that it is essential we create an inclusive environment that reflects society and affords all people the space and confidence to develop to their full potential. We have created our very own Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy called All Great People. This is our four-year strategy that outlines our positive intent to ensuring that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is at the very core of our business and successfully continues to deliver an extended FM Conway family, made up of positive representatives from every area of our society. EDI represents the mutual trust, respect and understanding we strive for in our organisation in order to serve our clients and communities. We want everyone who interacts with us, both internally and externally, to feel valued and respected, and for our programmes, services and general ways of working to embody our stated commitment to EDI.

In addition to over 16 separate improvement and maintenance projects, FM Conway was delighted to join the Westminster working group for carbon reduction to help identify where they could add value.

Areas identified were:

• Plant & Tools • Materials • Deliveries • Waste

Our strategy encompasses eight goals and 23 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure our progress.

GOAL 1 -

MAINTAINING AN INCLUSIVE ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE

The first meeting marked the start of a 10-year partnership towards achieving net zero carbon.

GOAL 2 -

INCREASING DIVERSITY THROUGH THE BAME COMMUNITY

GOAL 3 -

INCREASING DIVERSITY THROUGH THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY

GOAL 4 -

INCREASING DIVERSITY THROUGH THE DISABLED COMMUNITY

Here at FM Conway, along with everyone else working in our sector, we were proud to receive recognition from the Minister for Roads, Buses and Places. Words of encouragement are invaluable in tough times and we ensured the message was shared with all our people.

GOAL 5 -

INCREASING DIVERSITY THROUGH THE FEMALE COMMUNITY

GOAL 6 -

DEVELOPING INCLUSION & RESPECT

GOAL 7 -

INCREASING DIVERSITY IN OUR SUPPLY CHAIN

GOAL 8 -

COMMUNICATING OUR PERFORMANCE, IMPACT AND SHARING BEST PRACTICE

We have set challenging targets over a four-year period to improve Equality, Diversity and Inclusion throughout the business and look forward to reporting back on our success.

You are doing an outstanding job under extremely challenging circumstances. Thanks to your dedication and commitment, the strategic and local road networks remain open. And as a result, crucial supplies of food, life-saving medicines, fuel and other goods can move around the country, while health and other emergency workers can travel to where they are needed most.

REWARDING GREAT PEOPLE

Our reward and recognition platform was launched at the end of 2020 and provides all our people with a range of employee benefits; these include online deals, in-store offers and even cashback on items, as well as an extensive range of discounted lifestyle products and community features. Additional benefits include regular competitions and a Lotto draw where an employee can win up to £3,000.
