MEETING THE CORONAVIRUS CHALLENGE SUPPORTING OUR PEOPLE AND OUR CUSTOMERS
WORKING BETTER TOGETHER
FM Conway’s 60-year history is a story of continuous growth and improvement. We have not achieved this in isolation; our customers and suppliers are our partners, whilst our family ethos extends beyond the boundaries of our own organisation. Our relationships are much more than transactional; we seek to fully understand our customers’ requirements so we can provide solutions, better ways of working, and deliver a great job whilst collaborating on key issues such as carbon reduction, road safety, air quality, and respecting and supporting the communities in which we are working. Similarly, our social impact extends further than making community donations and charity support; we also work towards long-term partnerships. At FM Conway, we want to be part of the fabric of our communities, supporting employment, training, skills, leisure, health, and helping the most disadvantaged to access opportunities.
The pandemic provided a challenge for everyone and at the heart of our response to COVID-19 were two key principles; keeping our people safe and continuing to deliver our customers’ requirements.
There was no magic wand but, through adherence to the guidance, swift reaction, and an adaptable approach, we set in place a well-managed, comprehensive response to the crisis which kept our people safe whilst allowing our business to, not only function, but to thrive.
HEALTHIER TOGETHER
We are proud of the positive impact we make in our communities and, as with every aspect of our business, we achieve this and so much more through ‘working better together’.
In addition to trying to protect our people from the virus, we also acknowledged that a potentially greater long-term impact was the effect on mental health of both the threat posed by the virus and the national lockdown implemented to combat it. To address the impact of mental health, FM Conway developed its own Mental Wellbeing Strategy, Healthier Together, which provides a seven-step roadmap to achieving our vision for a mentally healthy workplace. • Improving understanding • Addressing risks • Fostering an anti-bullying culture • Combatting stigma • Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing • Supporting employees living with mental health conditions regardless of cause • Preventing death by suicide Our seven-step approach is made up of the following goals:
