KEEPING THE FAMILY CONNECTED

RECOGNITION AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL

FM Conway was delighted to welcome Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to our Heathrow Asphalt Plant last autumn to discuss ‘Build Back Better‘, the government campaign for a coronavirus recovery plan.

The pandemic created a situation of uncharted waters for us all. This is why, in order to help everyone at FM Conway and their extended families navigate this, we created the FM Conway COVID-19 website to provide advice and instruction, just as any other family would during troubling times. The website provided information, guidance and assistance for everything from safe ways of working, to help and support with mental health issues, staying active during lockdown, and home schooling. Exercise workouts were available for people of all levels of health and fitness. We included signposting to organisations dealing with mental health and financial wellbeing, as well as providing fun activities for children including a colouring challenge with submissions forming part of the FM Conway 2021 calendar.

FM Conway Chairman, Michael Conway MBE, CEO, Adam Green, and Head of Operations, Mark Whelehan, met with Boris Johnson for a discussion regarding the campaign and what this means for infrastructure, followed by a tour of Heathrow Asphalt Plant. The government’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon by 2050 and a ‘green revolution’ in the way in which the economy operates, sits very comfortably with our track record of innovation and recycling, and proved an excellent basis for a very positive discussion.

So impressed was the Prime Minister, with our business and our commitment to recycling, that he even posted a glowing endorsement on his Facebook page.

“[FM Conway] is one of the greenest road working companies in the whole of the world. I absolutely congratulate them on what they are doing and they are helping this country to build back better.” Prime Minster, Boris Johnson

The website became an important and valuable tool for keeping our people regularly updated.

OUR NHS HEROES

The work of the NHS has been outstanding during this incredibly tough year and, at FM Conway, we are committed to offering support in whatever way we can. The FM Conway Water and Drainage Management division, for example, worked with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to help support the opening of an NHS Vaccination Centre. The team delivered barriers, along with a tanker to fill the barriers with water, free of charge, which ensured that the NHS could open this important centre by having adequate access control measures. Once opened, the centre had the capacity to deliver 1,500 vaccine doses a day.
