Social Value Report 2022-2023

FOREWORD

At FM Conway, we recognise that the positive environmental and social impacts are as much a part of the fabric of our business as the maintenance and improvement of our road infrastructure, the built environment, and the public realm. Our approach to the environmental and social challenges we face is not an added part of what we do, it is integral to our business. Industry leading recycling and innovation in low carbon products and services, not only help our customers to meet their challenging targets, but also helps our business to grow, and as a growing business we can do so much more. Local recruitment and local suppliers help to support the wealth creation and resilience of our local communities, as does the charitable work of The Conway Charitable Foundation and the time we spend working with local schools and colleges. Our apprenticeship scheme helps local people aspire to careers in the construction and infrastructure industries. These are important industries, which are at the centre of the climate change challenge and provide a significant proportion of the country’s employment. Industries where people can make a real difference. We want to provide a safe, fair and inclusive workplace for all our employees. We are a family business with family values, and the health and wellbeing of all our people is at the heart of our operations. We are delighted that out safety programme ‘Big Ten in 10’, and our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) strategy, ‘All Great People’ are both award winning, but more importantly that they create a working environment and culture that we can all be proud of. Our Social Value Report outlines some of our key contributions and the social value that they generate. We hope you enjoy the report.
