Westminster City Council King Street Low Carbon Trial - Client Report
CONSTRAINTS There were also some site constraints that the team needed to overcome. The concerns were mainly around power and supply of plant.
• Power:
• Need to charge everything off the feeder pillar
• No power pack available making charging more difficult
• Different items have different connectors so changes were made to the feeder pillar
• Charging must be done during day
• Smaller plant could not be charged in Welfare Unit
• Suppliers & Plant:
• Limited choice of plant
• No deliveries with electric vehicles
TESTIMONIALS
“We hope that the success of this trial will see public realm works across the city transform for the better and help us towards maintaining a greener and cleaner Westminster.” Councillor Andrew Smith, Westminster City Council Cabinet Member for Highways & the Environment “In regard to the recent pavement works I would like to extend my thanks to yourself and the team carrying out the works. The communication has been great and assisted greatly in keeping my building occupiers informed. As for the works themselves I was quite surprised at how quiet they were with the use of the electric machinery. Noise disruption is probably the most complained about part of any works that take place within or in the surrounding area of the building so it was great this wasn’t a disruption factor here. As it happens, I did not get one complaint for the entire duration of the works.” Alex Hall, Building Manager, Almack House, BNP Parabas Real Estate
