These photographs were taken by Ian White who had just completed his apprenticeship with Croydon Council in 1983. Ian still works there today.

stone coping, and we had to make the plinth, and fix the sculpture on it. (And you can be sure that plinth was heavily insured!) Jim Manning was supervisor. Bill Slade did the shuttering and concrete work on the circular stair; he was very good at that kind of thing. John Murtagh was foreman, and his brother Joe worked with him.
