Social Value Report 2022-2023

GREAT PEOPLE

ACHIEVEMENTS • Disability Confident Status Renewed • Collaborative Female Recruitment • Armed Forces Veteran Recruitment

Social value is created by ‘what changes’ in people’s lives. Our support for our great people continues to focus on the employment of local people, our apprenticeship programme, and the training, development, health and wellbeing of everyone who works for us. Additionally, the time our people spend supporting schools and colleges, helping inspire local people, is also accounted for in the social value we create as an employer.

Receiving two awards for ‘Inclusive Employer’ from the Better Society Awards in 2021, and for ‘Excellence in Delivering Equality, Diversity & Inclusion’ from National Highways in 2022, has been a great reflection of the work and commitment of our people in increasing the diversity within our organisation. We were proud to have our Disability Confident Leadership status renewed in March 2023, after the successful submission of data and evidence to demonstrate the huge effort to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities within our teams. In collaboration with our client, TfL, we participated in the Women in Transport and Engineering work place programme, successfully hosting six candidates for two weeks, and offering two candidates permanent positions, which they accepted. Our interim Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Strategy report was published in 2022, with over 57% of actions completed, and the rest in progress or planned. EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
