Disability Confident Leader FM Conway is proud to be a Disability Confident Leader. In 2020, when we first launched our ‘All Great People’ strategy, Goal 4 (of our eight goals on diversity and inclusion) focused on increasing diversity through better representation of the disabled community. As a Disability Confident leader, we have made a number of changes to our working practices and recruitment processes to ensure that we are attracting, retaining, and supporting our diverse workforce and the communities that we serve. We have been delighted to do this with the support of The Education People. Their Specialist Employment Service offers a range of support to help individuals gain and sustain paid employment. By providing training and in-work support, they help reduce recruitment costs and improve retention. They’ve been a valuable partner in shaping our understanding and supporting our successful journey to becoming a Disability Confident Leader. “FM Conway has displayed all the attributes we champion in an organisation’s approach to attracting and retaining disabled people. Great Leaders Programme Our Great Leaders Programme gives our people the skills and confidence to step out of their comfort zone, challenge the status quo, and become great authentic leaders with a shared vision and direction. The course operates at three levels: Preparing for Leadership, Effective Leadership, and Expert Leaders, and has already benefited over 160 employees. It has proved a successful way to identify and develop talent, while also helping to embed FM Conway’s values throughout the organisation. The leadership skills gained not only enhance the working environment and improve team performance, but also contribute to greater job satisfaction for many beyond those attending the course. “The course not only helped me better shape working relationships and improve team performance, many of the skills enhanced my life outside of work.
